American Sign Language students at Marion enjoyed a memorable experience at the Rochester Fringe Festival on September 12.

Several Black Knights attended "Deafersity," a Fringe Festival performance celebrating Deaf Awareness Month and the diversity of the Deaf Community. The show featured performances of poetry, songs, and dance by Deaf artists from Rochester, Costa Rica, Venezuela, NYC, Arkansas, California and more. The show was made accessible through English and Spanish captions, voice interpreting, and Deaf Blind interpreting.

After the show, students met Matthew "JPosh" Schwartz, a Deaf ASL teacher and PhD candidate who produced the program as part of his dissertation on Deaf Arts Education.
