Name an activity at Marion and chances are good you’ll see Aaron Meyer taking part in it.
Whether it’s running cross country or track, singing in the chorus or school musical, playing an instrument in the band or being part of National Honor Society, Meyer is a busy high school senior.
He’s also the recipient of this year’s Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Superintendent’s Award for Marion. Meyer joined 24 other area students in being honored with this award at the W-FL BOCES Conference Center in Newark earlier this month.
Each district in the W-FL Region (25 schools) selects one student each year for this award, which requires a GPA of 80 or higher at the end of their junior year. The students must also demonstrate qualities such as compassion, perseverance, responsibility and kindness.
“Aaron is such a well-rounded student,” Marion Superintendent Dr. Ellen Lloyd said. “He excels in the classroom and in athletics. And, he’s a kind and supportive member of our school community.”
Meyer is a member of the band and chorus at Marion and is an accomplished runner and captain of the cross country team who qualified for the state cross country meet as a junior and senior. He’s also been part of 10 musical productions with multiple lead roles and has worked at Camp Onseyawa in Penn Yan as a Red Cross certified lifeguard and dishwasher.
Meyer plans to attend RIT after graduation in June to study cybersecurity.
Congratulations to Aaron for being recognized with this well-deserved honor!
