Marion Junior-Senior High School is proud to announce that Sienna Mattison, daughter of Jeff and Nicki Mattison, is Valedictorian for the Class of 2026.
Sienna, a Marion student since kindergarten, will continue her education in the fall at SUNY Cortland, where she plans to study health care management with the goal of helping to run a hospital from the business end. She’s excited to take on the new chapter of her life but admits it’s bittersweet.
“There’s been a countdown of how many school days are left and I’ve spent so much of my life here,” she said. “So it’s sad that is coming to an end but I’m excited and ready to get out there with new people in new places.”
Sienna has been an active student with time on the volleyball and outdoor track teams in addition to show choir, jazz band, wind ensemble and numerous roles in the spring musical. She’s also been involved with Student Council and National Honor Society.
Salutatorian
Aaron Meyer, son of Andrew and Joanna Meyer, is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2026 at Marion Jr.-Sr. High School.
Aaron, who has attended Marion schools since kindergarten, plans to continue his education studying software engineering and cybersecurity at Rochester Institute of Technology this fall.
While his time at Marion comes to an end, he’s confident in the foundation put in place to prepare him for the pursuit of a potential career in cybersecurity.
“I’m excited,” he said. “I’m grateful for my time here but it’s time to get after it.”
Aaron hasn’t had much free time as a Marion student. He ran cross country and track (indoor and outdoor), was involved in Student Council, National Honor Society and was a member of numerous musical ensembles, including starring roles in the spring musical in addition to instrumental and vocal groups at Marion.
So how did he do it?
“Just do what you’re told and stay focused,” he said of the best advice he’ll carry into his post-Marion life. “Those are the big things.”
Aaron is eyeing a cyber career in the military to help keep the country and companies here safe from cyber attacks.
